From PowerPoint, save the presentation as a PDF (file save as > PDF). If you only need each slide as a non-editable graphic inside InDesign, this is the best option. Given this, we are left with two options – PDF Export or Manual. Unfortunately, there is not a native import for PowerPoint files. It seems logical that it would be easy to import an PowerPoint file into InDesign since Microsoft Word and Excel files import well. I need to reformat the slides and make them look not like a PowerPoint. And I REALLY DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO POWERPOINT PLEASE GOD.How do I convert a PowerPoint into a format where I can reformat it and bring it into InDesign. I know I can't be the only person who deals with this, right? Are there any features I am missing or tricks I can use to be more efficient here? I can't nix the page numbers altogether because half of our clients are tech illiterate and put comments in word docs, etc. (I did download a PDF to InDesign extension but it doesn't do what I need it to and it's old and expensive. There is often a tight turnaround for revisions so to save time I've edited text in Acrobat but then it screws up my versioning. So I have been manually changing them which is a time suck and easy for me to screw up. In the beginning I was just placing the slides as PDF images but then, duh, I realized the links don't work when I do that.Ĭurrently I have been exporting each as PDF and then merging in Acrobat, but that screws up my page numbering. I have a counterpart in the research dept who has been using a ppt template matching mine so we could save time and I didn't have to redo his graphs and stuff. However, nobody else in my department uses ID. My job involves writing and designing these message briefs for new clients, and when I started my predecessor got me using InDesign to create them. Anybody have to work between PPT and InDesign regularly and have tips on an efficient workflow? A little background:
